- The Minutes and Resolutions of the previous meeting were approved.
- It was reported that there were 162 victims of vCJD as at 7 August 2006, according to the figures on the Department of Health’s website. However Charles Russell were aware of 168 victims. Main Applications had been received in relation to 165 claims. By the end of this meeting, the Trustees will have considered 159 cases on the claims submitted to date. There are six claims being dealt with at present. The Trustees had considered a total of 313 claims for £5,000 Psychiatric Injury, 146 claims for Particular Emotional Hardship and 27 claims for Particular Financial Hardship.
- The Trustees considered two new claims. They also considered four claims by family members of four victims for the single sum of £5,000 for psychiatric injury lasting longer than a calendar month that has been caused or materially aggravated by the fact that the victim has contracted vCJD, four claims in relation to four victims for Particular Emotional Hardship, three claims by family members of three victims for Particular Financial Hardship as a result of psychiatric injury and one re-submitted claims for Particular Financial Hardship in relation to one victim.
- The Trustees reconsidered the principles underlying the claims for care provided by families.
