- It was reported that there were 161 victims of vCJD as at 31 march 2006, according to the figures on the Department of Health’s website. Main Applications had been received in relation to 160 claims. By the end of this meeting, the Trustees will have considered 155 cases on the claims submitted to date. There are five claims being dealt with at present. The Trustees had considered a total of 291 claims for £5,000 Psychiatric Injury, 123 claims for Particular Emotional Hardship and 21 claims for Particular Financial Hardship.
- The Trustees considered twenty-two claims by family members of nine victims for the single sum of £5,000 for psychiatric injury lasting longer than a calendar month that has been caused or materially aggravated by the fact that the victim has contracted vCJD, nineteen claims in relation to seven victims for Particular Emotional Hardship, three re-submitted claims for Particular Emotional Hardship in relation to two victims, seven claims by family members of four victims for Particular Financial Hardship as a result of psychiatric injury and one re-submitted claim for Particular Financial Hardship in relation to one victim.
- It was agreed that the Trustees would meet with representatives from the Human BSE Foundation, the CJD Support Network and solicitors representing families.
- David Churchill, Elaine Motion and Vicky Vidler were reappointed as Trustees for four years.
